Security Office
introduction
The Security Department is situated along the University Main road towards the Male Hostels. It operates a 24-hour Control room which can be reached by either making a personal visit or a telephone call. All enquiries and reports should be directed to the office to facilitate timely attendance and investigation.

Security Services
- Manning of Entry and Exit Points
- The University Main Gate and other campus gates are controlled by security personnel. All persons and vehicles using these gates may be searched.
- Static Guard Points
- All strategic University buildings are under 24 hour static guard.
- Campus Patrols
- The patrols are done within the campus and the perimeter fence. Routine 'stop and searches' are also done during patrols.
- Plain Clothes Details (PCD)
- Plain clothes details operate throughout the campus. These are responsible for covet surveillance and intelligence gathering.
- Premises/Houses under Supervision
- A security service offered to campus residents. It is offered to residents who will not be at their houses for a considerable period of time. Checks will be carried out continuously at the houses. Offices left unlocked are also placed under security supervision until the return of the owner.
- Crime Investigation
- All cases and incidents affecting the University's business or interests will be investigated, to obtain full facts. These include violence, road traffic accidents involving University vehicles and malicious damage of property. All criminal cases will be reported to police for further investigations.
- Searches
- Routine searches of bags being carried by persons exiting the campus will be done. The body searches may also be done to any person going out of campus.
- Premises Inspection Reports (PIR)
- Checks of university premises are done. Premises Inspection Reports will be compiled for all anomalies observed including unlocked doors, running water taps, unclosed windows, lights on and electrical gadgets left on.
- Visitors' Vehicle Parking Cards (VVPC)
- All visitors entering the university campus will be issued with visitors' vehicle parking cards at the University Main Gate. The cards are for controlling traffic entering the campus.
- Public Relations
- The security department disseminates security tips, suggestions and messages to the university community through the news flash "SECURITY ALERT" and the monthly "CAMPUS WATCH". These are circulated throughout the campus. A 24-hour hotline 29440 is also available.
- University Hotel Security
- The University Hotel complex is currently covered by campus security in all areas, including Accommodation, Restaurant, Bar, Car Parks and Take-away.
- University Farm Security
- The University Farm security covers the Main workshops, fields, compound and all pump houses. Armed guards and bike patrols ensure maximum security at the farm.
