INTRODUCTION


Chinhoyi University of Technology offers full-time and part-time degree and diploma programmes in several departments. All programmes offered include a component of entreneurship training to encourage the creation of new business ventures that will provide the engine for the growth of the economy. There are approximately 1650 students currently registered with the University. The training programmes are over a period of four years. Diploma students spend the fourth semester on industrial attachment whilst degree students spend the fifth and sixth semesters on industrial attachment. For diploma students, the fourth year which is optional will be spent training in teaching skills.

UNDERGRADUATE

Diploma Programmes:
Applicants should have at least five Ordinary Level passes, which should include English Language and Mathematics. Advanced Level passes in a relevant technical/practical subject(s) will be an added advantage.

Degree Programmes:
At least five Ordinary level passes including English Language and Mathematics or approved equivalents and at least two Advanced level passes or their equivalents. In addition to the minimum entry requirements, each programme may have additional specific requirements

POSTGRADUATE

This programme commenced in August 2005. The programme is offered on a block release basis over three(3) semesters. The Master of Science Degree in Strategic Management comprises of two taught semesters followed by a dissertation. The programme is designed to develop the skills and knowledge required by senior management in spearheading their organisation.

LIFELONG

All degree programmes are four-year full time courses of study except Bachelor of Technology Education, which takes two years. Each academic year is made up of two semesters and at the end of each semester, examinations are taken for the courses covered.

The Diploma programmes are three year full time courses of study. The students are on attachment for at least eight months during the second year.

Entry Requirements:
Diploma:
5 O' Level passes with grade C or better, including English Language, Science and Mathematics for entry to diploma programmes.
Degree:
At least relevant 2 A'Level passes in relevant subjects, Diploma or equivalent

Chinhoyi University has an increasing number of international students. We aim to offer our students an excellent education experience working closely with our university partners to ensure the quality of our provision is of a very high standard.

The Office emphasizes in several areas that assist students with their pre-departure, arrival and integration into the University, Chinhoyi and Zimbabwe. Staff is committed to providing excellent service to students and is always available to help. Services provided by the Student Affairs International students Office include; advising on visa/permit/immigration issues and application procedures, running an orientation programme, acting as a referral point for other services in the University, advice on visa requirements, student permit/visa renewals and student exchange coordination. Assistance with finding accommodation and airport pick-up is also provided. International Student Representatives are available for all international students. A walk in Clinic is also located on campus.

ZIPAM

Programmes on offer:
  1. BSc HIV AIDS and Community Development.
  2. BSc Office Administration and Technology.

Application Procedure:
  1. Application forms are obtainable from ZIPAM Darwendale upon payment of US$20 or downloadable here
  2. All applicants MUST submit photocopies (NOT ORIGINALS) of all relevant academic and / or professional certificates including birth certificate and ID card. The copies of certificates must be certified by a Commissioner of Oaths or Head of the institution at which the examinations were taken.
  3. Applicants must give careful thought to their choice of programme in relation to the entry requirements for that programme and their own subject passes. It is also important for applicants to understand that admission will be made, as far as possible, in accordance with the programme preference made by the applicant. You are encouraged to seek guidance on degree components, career prospects, etc, from the TRAINING DEPARTMENT on the following numbers 0912 409 875, 0912 409 871.

SPECIAL ENTRY

The following persons may apply for Special Entry and for permission to proceed to a first degree with exemption from the whole or part of the normal entry requirements:
  1. A person who has obtained a degree/diploma in relevant areas of this or another University or a recognised degree awarding Institution.
  2. A person who has obtained from a University or an Institution of similar status, academic qualifications (other than degrees) acceptable to Senate.
  3. A person who has obtained an appropriate number of subjects at an approved examination and has subsequently passed an intermediate or equivalent examination at a University acceptable to the Senate.
  4. A person who has obtained an appropriate number of subjects at an approved examination equivalent to the standard of the Ordinary Level.
Students who qualify under this regulation for Special Entry may apply to the Senate to be exempted from certain courses and examinations. Permission may be given to complete the programme for a Bachelor's degree in less than the normal required period provided that no student shall be allowed direct entry to the Final Part of any programme.

Students who apply for admission under this regulation may be required to attend interviews and/or special tests at the University to determine their suitability for admission to Bachelor's degree studies.
