We invite you to join Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) in its tenth anniversary celebrations in the year 2012. This occasion marks an important milestone in the genesis of the University. Research has been at the centre of all academic activities in the University from its inception, and has been valued as the major factor that will determine our relevance and contribution to societal development. In the last decade CUT has been building capacity for research, both from the structural and systemic perspectives. Thus we see it fit to celebrate the first decade of CUTs existence with an international research conference, under the theme Placing Research at the Forefront of Development in Africa .

The International Research Conference, 2012, promises to be a significant milestone in extending and advancing frontiers of research at CUT and for our delegates, through networking of local and international academia, industry and the public sector. The call is to develop research systems in Africa anchored on collaboration, regionalisation, and responsive to the realities in Africa. Thus, this conference offers an opportune moment for a research discourse amongst African scholars and their international counterparts. The conference promises an intellectually rewarding experience, with highlights from carefully selected thematic areas that reflect diversity of research issues that are at the centre of development in Africa. These range from technology, agriculture and entrepreneurship, and their interface with sustainable development and protection of the environment.

The conference will be held at Chinhoyi University of Technology, in the beautiful historical town of Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe. Located 116km north-west of the city of Harare, the vibrant, friendly town of Chinhoyi is home to the famous Chinhoyi (limestone) caves, and is on the main highway to Kariba Dam which is on the Zambezi River. The conference shall be hosted by CUTs own CUT Hotel which has been offering an impeccable standard of hospitality for the past decade. Alternative accommodation will also be available at other hotels in Chinhoyi.
