The Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Hospitality and Tourism is a four (4)-year full time Degree Programme. The programme of study comprises six (6) semesters of full time study at the University and at least eight (8) months of industrial attachment. The programme focuses on Hospitality and Tourism as two interrelated areas of study intended to develop human capital for the hospitality and tourism industry by exposing learners to an up-to-date Hospitality and Tourism curriculum.
Demonstrate product knowledge of Zimbabwe's and the world's major tourism offerings.
Communicate effectively, think creatively and critically to be effective managers in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry.
Use entrepreneurial and innovative skills to grow current, and/or to start and run their own enterprises in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry.
Demonstrate competence in research, analysis and interpretation of business performance in the hospitality and tourism industry.
Utilise acquired managerial knowledge, skills and competences in becoming dynamic and competent managers in the hospitality and tourism industry.
Demonstrate analysis, reflection and application of various hospitality and tourism theories to improve performance of the hospitality and tourism operations.
Work placements/international opportunities
As part of your course you will undertake at least 8 months of industrial attachment anywhere in the world
(subject to approval by the Department). You may also engage in fieldwork as part of your final year dissertation
and you are required to accumulate 120 hrs (12 credits) credits of work-based learning in any one of the CUT Hotels.
You will also be expected to acquire 120 hrs (12 credits) of work-based learning in tourism related engagements.
Normal Entry Requirements:
Candidates should have at least five 'O' Level passes including Mathematics and English Language.
Candidates should also have passed at least any two Advanced Level subjects with Geography and any other commercials.
Notwithstanding the above, a candidate, who holds a Higher National Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution, may be considered for direct entry.
