Department of Accountancy

INTRODUCTION

The Bachelor of Science honours degree in Accountancy is a four-year full time honours degree programme. The degree focuses on Accountancy as an area of study.
 

Aims

This programme aims to:-

Train, teach and produce strategic and enterprising accountancy professionals and entrepreneurs. Create a pool of highly qualified accountancy professionals to steer the industry into the future.

Qualifications for entry to programme

Normal Entry:
  Candidates should:-

Have passed at least 5 subjects at O-level including Mathematics or approved equivalents Normally English at O-level would be a requirement. Have good passes in at least two subjects at A-level which must include Accounting and any other commercial related subject(s) from the following list:- Economics, Statistics, management of Business, Computers and Mathematics.

Special Entry
  Candidates should have minimum of a National Diploma in Business Studies or its equivalent.

Career opportunities

Graduates of these programmes will practice as Accountants, Auditors, and Financial Managers/ Directors and Tax Consultancy in both the public and private sectors. They can also set up consultants and entrepreneurs, or pursue higher degrees at this or other universities with a view to becoming senior policymakers, academics and researchers. There are also opportunities to go and practice in the region and abroad.
