Department of PRODUCTION ENGINEERING

INTRODUCTION

The Bachelor of Technology Honours in Production Engineering is a four and a half year full time degree programme. The programme comprises seven semesters of full time studies at the university and two semesters of Industrial Attachment

Production Engineering is a discipline that seeks to establish and apply mathematical, scientific and engineering principles to effectively manage the manufacturing process of products.
 

Objectives of the Programme

The objectives of the programme are to:

Produce competitive and flexible graduates who are able to manage the manufacturing process and systems Produce graduates who are proficient in product and process innovation Equip the graduate with both technical and entrepreneurial skills

Qualifications for entry to programme

Normal Entry:
Candidates should:-

Have passed at least 5 subjects at General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level including Mathematics Normally, English Language at O' level is a requirement Have good Advanced Level passes in Mathematics and any other subjects e.g. Physics, Chemistry or equivalents

Special Entry

Special entry will be allowed for persons who hold at least a National Diploma or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution with five passes at "O" level at Grade C or better in approved relevant subjects including English Language. Applicants may be required to sit for entrance tests before they are accepted A person who holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant field from a recognized institution may apply to the Senate through the department for exemption from courses/attending courses in semesters 1 and 2. Such persons may be examined in some of the courses. Holders of Chinhoyi University of Technology diplomas may apply to Senate for exemption from courses in Semesters 1 and 2 as specified in the General Academic Regulations
