The Chinhoyi University of Technology Library operates on three spaces: the Main CUT Library, the Harare Library and the Virtual Library.

Through these libraries, CUT Library provides resources that fully support the teaching, learning and research needs of the University community and beyond. For efficient and effective service delivery, the Library is composed of the Client Services, Marketing, Scholarly Communication, Systems & Electronic Resources and Resource Development & Metadata sections.

Through these sections the Library aims to provide quality services that support the core business of the Chinhoyi University of Technology.

Library Rules and Regulation


1. General Rules & Regulations

  • Entrance to the library is strictly by producing a valid CUT Student or staff I.D.
  • Silence within the Library must be observed at all times.
  • Eating, drinking, and smoking are strictly prohibited.
  • The use of cellphones within the Library is prohibited.
  • Users are expected to behave and present themselves decently at all times.
  • The Librarian shall reserve the right to withdraw or refuse Library services to any user who disregards the above-listed rules and regulations.

2. Borrowing of Books

  • To borrow library materials students and staff are required to present their valid CUT ID.
  • Upon return, every library book lent to student and staff shall be inspected .
  • Any user who causes damage to library materials or other property will foot the cost of repair.
  • Some Library collections are not for loan and are appropriately marked.
  • No user shall take a book out of the Library unless it is properly issued.
  • All persons leaving the Library must present their belongings for inspection at the exit.
  • Late returns of borrowed books shall attract a penalty of $0.50c/ day.
  • The Librarian in charge shall reserve the right to recall a book on loan.
  • These books shall be returned within the shortest time possible and a fine shall be charged for any inexplicable delay.
  • For clearance purposes all library users must return all outstanding materials and pay fines if any beforehand and obtain Library clearance.
  • Users will be held responsible for any material lost while in their custody and will be required to replace the book.
  • Lost books once recovered will remain the property of the Library.

3. Computers and Internet use

  • One person is allowed per workstation.
  • Use of library computers is restricted to Internet searching, accessing electronic journals and Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) only
  • Strictly do not change software configurations or settings that is adding, deleting or modifying systems files, screensavers, default pages etc.
  • Strictly do not download on the computer hard disk.
  • Converse yourself with the university ICT policy
